Blues Brothers Revue to Kick Off Stampede Concerts
(Calgary, AB, Canada) - June 1st, 2009 - Stampede Casino and entertainment mogul Bian Variani are proud to present "The Blues Brothers Revue" on June 11th and 12th, 2009. This event begins each night at 6:30 PM and will take place in the Casino's Big Sky Showroom.
From Chicago orphanage to infamy
This famous band is a Grammy Award-nominated, American blues and soul revivalist band that was founded in 1978 by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. Originally part of a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live, Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively in character as lead vocalist "Joliet" Jake Blues and harpist/vocalist Elwood Blues, were children from a Chicago orphanage who grew up and fronted the band, which was made up of well-known and respected musicians. The band made its debut as the musical guest on a 1978 episode of Saturday Night Live.
Since Belushi's death in 1982, the Blues Brothers have continued to perform, mainly at special occasions and for a sequel movie that was made in 1998. Aykroyd no longer performs, but he and the John Belushi estate have since authorized the Blues Brothers Revue to perform under the Blues Brothers name, allowing the legacy to continue.
